Ancient History Cambridge University Trip
At the end of January, 23 Ancient History pupils from years 10 and 11 travelled to Cambridge University for the day. The morning was spent discussing the pros and cons of ancient forms of democracy, monarchy and oligarchy through the use of ancient authors. This was followed by a tour of the Selwyn college led by a number of current students. This helped pupils to get a better understanding of the daily life for students as well as the facilities available to students. The day ended with a tour of the departments Museum of Classical Archaeology, exploring how sculpture and styles developed from the archaic to the Hellenistic periods. This included a chance to view some statues of figures from our course such as Alexander the Great, Caesar and Octavian. Everyone involved had a great day and the feedback from the pupils has been fantastic.
